A mission-focused guide to the confirmed State of Leonida and the regions Rockstar Games has shown for Grand Theft Auto VI. We treat the world as a set of mission environments, what each area is and the kind of jobs it is likely to host, and we keep community map-size estimates firmly under a leak label.
Confirmed Shown by Rockstar. Leak / unverified Estimate, not confirmed.

The confirmed setting
Confirmed GTA 6 is set in the State of Leonida, a fictional take on modern Florida, with Vice City as its main metropolis. Rockstar has confirmed six regions that make up the state: Vice City, the Leonida Keys, Grassrivers, Mount Kalaga, Port Gellhorn and Ambrosia. That gives us a real, named framework to build mission planning around, long before the full map is in our hands.
The six confirmed regions
Confirmed Below is what we can say about each named region. The names and the fact they exist are confirmed. The exact mission lists are not, so the "likely mission type" notes are our framing, not Rockstar quotes.
- Vice City: the neon-soaked urban core, Rockstar's Miami stand-in. Expect the densest cluster of story missions, jewellery and bank-style heists, drive-by combat and high-speed chases through art-deco streets.
- Leonida Keys: Jason's turquoise island home. A natural fit for boat work, smuggling runs and coastal getaways.
- Grassrivers: wetland and Everglades-style terrain. Airboats, swamp hideouts and ambush-friendly missions are the obvious fit here.
- Mount Kalaga: Leonida's higher, wilder country. Backcountry chases, off-road vehicles and remote objectives.
- Port Gellhorn: a working, roadside-Americana town. Industrial heists, trucking and gritty street-level jobs.
- Ambrosia: a confirmed region with less shown so far; we will detail its mission types as Rockstar reveals more.

Map size: what is real and what is not
Leak / unverified You will see confident figures everywhere: "140 to 160 km²," "double the size of GTA 5," "the biggest map Rockstar has ever made." These are community estimates pieced together from trailer landmarks and leaks. Rockstar has not stated a map size. We present these numbers only as fan estimates, never as fact, and we will replace them with verified measurements only once the game is out.
What we can say honestly is that the world spans a dense city, island chains, wetlands, high country and rural towns, which is a genuinely varied set of mission environments regardless of the final square-kilometre count.
Why this is a mission guide, not just a map
This page is deliberately about how the world drives your missions, the getaway routes, the terrain that favours stealth, the regions that cluster heists. For a full interactive look at Leonida's geography and landmarks, that lives elsewhere; here we focus on turning the map into a mission-planning tool. At launch, each region heading becomes a hub linking to the specific walkthroughs, collectibles and gold-medal jobs found there.
This page is part of the GTA 6 missions walkthrough hub. See also the side missions and activities guide for what fills each region, the heists guide for city scores, and the vehicles guide for the getaway machines that suit each terrain.
FAQ
How big is the GTA 6 map? Rockstar has not confirmed a size. Any square-kilometre figure, including the popular 140 to 160 km² range, is a fan estimate, not an official measurement.
What regions are in GTA 6? Rockstar has confirmed six regions in the State of Leonida: Vice City, the Leonida Keys, Grassrivers, Mount Kalaga, Port Gellhorn and Ambrosia.
Is GTA 6 set in Vice City or Florida? Both, in a sense. The game is set in the fictional State of Leonida, a stand-in for Florida, with Vice City as its main city.
Is the GTA 6 map bigger than GTA 5? That is a common claim but an unverified one. Rockstar has not compared the two map sizes, so treat "double GTA 5" as a fan estimate.
